Wildcats All-American helps U.S. to 33-27 win at Rich Harvest Farms
SUGAR GROVE, Ill. -- Northwestern's Irene Kim and Team USA defeated Team International, 33-27, at the 25th Arnold Palmer Cup hosted at Rich Harvest Farms, site of the Wildcats 2017 NCAA stroke-play championship.

The La Palma, California, native dented the scoreboard in the opening round, earning a decisive 4&3 mixed fourball win with partner Jacob Bridgeman (Clemson University), over Karen Fredgaard (University of Houston) and Bo Jin (Oklahoma State University).
The next afternoon Kim and Bridgeman again joined forces to knock off Team International's Agath Laisne (University of Texas) and Adrien Dumont de Chassart (University of Illinois).
The Palmer Cup caps a remarkable spring for the Wildcats sophomore, during which she was named Big Ten Golfer of the Year, as well as earning All-America honors from both Golfweek and the WGCA. She finished runner-up at the 2021 Big Ten Championships, one of four Top-5 results this year, and was the 'Cats top finisher at the 2021 Stanford NCAA Regional, the program's 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason.
The win is the Americans' 13th of the competition, which dates back to 1997.
The competition as it is played now features teams from the U.S. and the rest of the world, comprised of 12 men and 12 women, but has changed over the years. From 1997-2017 the event was men only, and from 1997-2002 was contested between the U.S. and Great Britain and Ireland. After the Americans won four of the first six events, the Great Britain and Ireland team was expanded to include all of Europe from 2003-2017. The current format has been used since 2018.
