EVANSTON, Ill. – A day after winning their second-straight Big Ten Championship, the Wildcats took home more hardware as Izzy Scane was named Big Ten Attacker of the Year and Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller was named Big Ten Coach of the Year, the conference announced Monday. It marked the first such award for Scane and the second for Amonte Hiller who previously won in 2019.

Scane earned the honors unanimously after torching opposing defenses in 2021. The junior attacker has scored 81 goals in 13 games for an average of 6.23 goals per game, over half a goal per game better than the NCAA record 5.71 goals per game set in 1996. She also leads the nation in points, shots and shots on goal per game. Scane set a new program record earlier this season with 10 goals in a 22-10 win over Rutgers on March 19.

The Clarkston, Michigan native was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2019 and was a second team All-American last year. She was one of four Wildcats named to the 2021 All-Big Ten first team last week, alongside Lauren Gilbert, Lindsey McKone and Ally Palermo, and is one of the 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award, the highest award in women's lacrosse. Scane is the second-straight Wildcat to unanimously win the Big Ten Attacker of the Year Award after Selena Lasota did so in 2019. No Big Ten awards were handed out after the 2020 season.

Amonte Hiller is the winningest head coach in Northwestern history and added to her case this year with a perfect 13-0 record through the regular season and Big Ten Tournament. She has engineered a historic offense in 2021 which scores 20.62 goals per game, on pace to shatter the NCAA record of 18.45 goals per game set in 2020. Amonte Hiller's offense also leads the nation in points, draw controls, shots and shots on goal per game.

The legendary coach has taken the lacrosse program to new heights since taking over in 2002, winning seven NCAA Championships with Northwestern, including five-straight from 2005-09. She has won the ILWCA National Coach of the Year Award four times, most recently in 2012. Amonte Hiller secured her 300th win with Northwestern last season.

The Wildcats will look to continue their undefeated season at the NCAA Tournament later this month.
