EVANSTON, Ill. – Izzy Scane was named IWCLA's National Co-Player of the Week after her performance in Northwestern's opening win of the NCAA tournament.
Scane led the Wildcats to a 19-4 win over Denver with eight goals and three assists. Her eight goals bring her season total to 89, setting a new program record for single season goals. Scane is also on track to beat both the program and NCAA record for single season goals per game. She currently leads the nation at 6.36 goals per game.
In addition to her prowess at the net, Scane has also run the Wildcat offense with efficiency. She is second on the team in assists with 21 on the season, recording five games with three assists so far this season. Scane leads the nation in points per game at 7.86 and is also on track to break both the program and NCAA record in that category.
This marks Scane's second player of the week honors from IWCLA. She was named the IWCLA Offensive Player of the Week at the beginning of the season for her nine-goal performance against Ohio State. In total, Scane has racked up eight weekly honors throughout the season: one from US Lacrosse, two from IWCLA and five from the Big Ten Conference.
Scane and her teammates will return to the field to face Duke at home for the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament this weekend.
