Softball Splits Saturday Doubleheader

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Wildcats split the Saturday doubleheader against the Cornhuskers.
Northwestern fell just short in the first contest, losing the game in the final two innings. The 'Cats held a 4-2 lead going into the sixth inning.
Jordyn Rudd led the offensive charge for NU, going three-for-three with a run, a double, and a RBI. Morgan Newport, along with Rudd, reached base in all three of her plate appearances while adding a RBI.
The 'Cats rebounded quickly in the second contest, trouncing the Cornhuskers by a score of 9-1. Nikki Cuchran was a force to be reckoned with at the plate, knocking in three runs while scoring one in just three plate appearances.
Maeve Nelson racked up three hits, her second three-hit game of the season. Nelson also scored a run to add to the efforts.
Lauren Boyd and Sydney Supple combined to allow the Cornhuskers to score just one run on four hits. Boyd picked up her fourth win of the season while Supple earned her fifth scoreless outing of the year in which she recorded three or more outs.
