EVANSTON, Ill. - Izzy Scane has been named one of five finalists for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award, presented annually to the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States, the foundation announced on Friday.
Scane will enter the NCAA Tournament as one of the most dominant offensive players in the country. The Big Ten Attacker of the Year has scored 81 goals in 13 games for an average of 6.23 goals per game, over half a goal per game better than the NCAA record 5.71 goals per game set in 1996. She helped lead the Wildcats to their second consecutive Big Ten Tournament Championship title. She led Northwestern with nine goals against Maryland, which tied the Big Ten Tournament record for most goals scored in a single game.
The Clarkston, Michigan native also leads the nation in points, shots and shots on goal per game. Scane set a new program record earlier this season with 10 goals in a 22-10 win over Rutgers on March 19.
