EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern closes the 2020-21 regular season with a rematch at No. 12 Michigan on Saturday. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network+ at the Crisler Center.
The Wildcats are coming off a 62-50 loss to No. 8 Maryland on Senior Day, where the 'Cats held the Terps, the best scoring offense nationally (95 points per game), to a season-low 62.
Junior guard Veronica Burton, a semifinalist for the Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year, leads the country in steals with 4.2 per game. She is the reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
Lindsey Pulliam is now 55 points away from the career 2,000 point threshold. It will take three to four games at her current rate to become the third Wildcat ever across the double millenium mark.
The 'Cats lead the country with a turnover margin of +10.3 and rank fifth nationally with a turnover margin of 1.39. They rank sixth nationally in steals per game with 12.3
The Wildcats dropped the first matchup this season to Michigan, 84-63. Given the Big Ten standings, Saturday's contest could be the first of two in a week. A potential round three looms on Thursday in a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal for the second season in a row with Saturday's winner securing a double bye as the No. 4 seed.
