It was the best finish in program history.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.  – Northwestern finished in third place among all women's fencing teams at the NCAA Championships over the weekend, the best finish in program history led by three All-American performers.

First year Sky Miller was an All-American in saber while Justine Banbury and Anna Biasco were All-Americans in foil. Miller finished second overall in saber, the highest individual finish of any Wildcat in program history.

From start to finish, Miller put together one of the most dominant Wildcats weekends ever, going 20-1 in pool fencing with a +64 indicator, the highest by 18 points. She was the No. 1 overall seed after pool bouts and won her semifinal against No. 4 seed against Karolina Kaleta, 15-9. She was bested in the final by Kara Linder, a junior from Notre Dame.

Biasco finished in seventh place in foil while Banbury finished eighth. Biasco went 13-7 while Banbury went. 12-8 and Biasco finished with an indicator of +16.

The other three Wildcats in action fenced competitively across the whole weekend, helping Northwestern to its impressive team finish.

Ilsa Hoffman finished 11-10 in saber and in 14th place, tied for the 12th best record.

Julia Falinska and Blodwen Bindas finished 13th and 15th, respectively, in epee. Falinska went 10-11 while Bindas went 9-12.

Northwestern concludes its team competition portion of the season and will look ahead to North American Cups and Junior Olympics in the coming months.
