Four Wildcats Headline Tewaaraton Watch List

Gilbert, McKone, Mueller, Scane In Mix For Sport's Top Honor
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Four Northwestern Wildcats, the most of any team in Big Ten lacrosse, were included on the Watch List for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award announced Thursday. Senior attack Lauren Gilbert, graduate attack Lindsey McKone, graduate midfielder Sammy Mueller and sophomore attack Izzy Scane all earned spots on the list which includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlights early contenders for the 20th anniversary of the honor.
The Tewaaraton Award annually recognizes the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation. All four Wildcats are vying to become the fourth winner in program history, and bring the trophy to Evanston for a sixth time since it's inception in 2001. Northwestern alumnae Shannon Smith (2011), Hannah Nielsen (2008, '09) and Kristen Kjellman (2006, '07) all have previously earned the prestigious honor.

Nominees can be players from the watch lists or not from the watch lists, effectively allowing for a second round of additions.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
