McCardell Cruises to 3000M Victory at the Hoosier Hills Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Seven Wildcats began their indoor season at the Hoosier Hills Invitational at Gladstein Fieldhouse this Saturday, with junior Rachel McCardell highlighting the top performances with a victory in the 3000M.

McCardell had an outstanding performance on her way to winning the 3000M with a time of 9:39.70. In a field that consisted of NU, Ohio State and Wisconsin, she outran the runner-up by nearly four seconds and the third-place finisher by 30 seconds.

Elizabeth Bulat also fought hard in the 3000M, crossing the finish line at 10:43.89. 

The 'Cats had four runners finish in the top ten of the one-mile finals. Sophomore Kalea Bartolotto led the Wildcats, finishing in sixth place with a time of 5:02.19. First-year Emily Casaclang ran in her first indoor meet for the 'Cats and was not far behind, earning eighth place with a time of 5:02.83. Sophomore Olivia Verbeke locked in ninth place recording a time of 5:03.02.

Sophomore Kayla Fortino also ran in the one-mile finals, logging a time of 5:22.13. Racing closely behind, Hallie Devore secured a time of 5:24.67.
