Northwestern Hosts UIC For 2021-22 Season Opener

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's basketball hosts UIC this Wednesday to tip off the regular season. The contest is set for 7 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena and will be streamed on B1G+.
The Wildcats defeated Parkside 70-58 their last time out in their exhibition on Sunday. The 'Cats were led by senior guard Veronica Burton who had 14 points, six steals, six rebounds, and five assists. Fellow senior Sydney Wood added 11 points.
Members of Northwestern's freshman class also made their debut on Sunday. There were notable performances from first years Jillian Brown and Melannie Daley, who scored 10 and eight points respectively.
UIC heads into this game after an exhibition win against Benedictine. The Flames were 3-16 last season, and ended the year with a seven game losing streak.
Northwestern has won the last 13 season openers, and have won their last four contests against UIC, most recently in November of 2018 with an 87-44 win.
