
Wildcats Tip Off Paradise Jam Against South Dakota on Thanksgiving

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Northwestern is in the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam, one of the strongest non-conference tournaments in the country featuring three games in three days.
The Wildcats take on 2021 NCAA Tournament team South Dakota on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. CT at the University of the Virgin Islands. The game will be streamed on ESPN3.

Northwestern is coming off a frustrating 78-75 loss at DePaul (RV) on Sunday. The team trailed by as many as 19 points in the first half and came back to lead by three with under two minutes to play.
First year guards Jillian Brown and Melannie Daley turned in breakout performances with double-digit scoring. They were a +6 and a +8, respectively in plus/minus.
Senior guard Veronica Burton left it all on the court, playing 39 minutes and registering a quadruple-nickel with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. She hit a go-ahead three with under two minutes left.
The Wildcat defense has been a strong point so far, holding a DePaul offense averaging 92 points to just 78 points. The 'Cats rank in the top 25 in the country in both steals (13.0, 20th) and blocks per game (7.8, 6th) and lead the Big Ten with 22 turnovers forced per game.
South Dakota was tabbed as the preseason favorite in the Summit League. They are 2-2 with losses to Oklahoma (RV) and No. 1 South Carolina.
