EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern wraps up its regular season with Senior Day against Ohio State at Martin Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT and will be streamed on B1G+ with the esteemed Northwestern alumnus Noah Coffman on the call.
The Wildcats need a win and help around the conference to qualify for the Big Ten Tournament, which is comprised of the top eight teams in the conference. The 'Cats have 10 points in the standings and their foes on Sunday Ohio State has 11. Four teams, Penn State, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin, sit above them in a tie for sixth place with 12 points. For Northwestern to finish in the top eight, they need to defeat the Buckeyes to get to 13 points for aat least two of those four to remain at 12 points with a loss.
If one, some or all of those teams tie, the Wildcats own a direct head-to-head tiebreaker over only Penn State, a 1-3 record against the group, and would have four Big Ten wins. Penn State visits Michigan State, Wisconsin hosts Iowa, Indiana visits Purdue and Minnesota hosts Nebraska. Of the four opponents, Michigan State, Iowa and Purdue are all fighting for postseason implications, while Nebraska is not.
The program will be honoring 12 of Northwesterns seniors before kickoff including two graduate students: Mackenzie Wood, Francesca Docters, Haley. Lawson, Olivia Stone, Madison Donley, Kaylee Titus, Hallie Pearson, Chloe McGhee, Cherish Anderson, Julietta Thron and graduates Regan Steigleder and Nia Harris.
The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 12:45 CT on the field.
Ohio State is 8-7-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are led by first year forward Kailyn Dudukovich and senior Kayla Fischer who both have 16 points on the season.
