EVANSTON, IL – Allie Lindroth of volleyball and Charles Maxwell of baseball were named recipients of the 2020 Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship Award, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.

Each year two student-athletes from each of the 14 Big Ten institutions who plan on continuing their education are awarded the $7,500 scholarship based on their academic achievement throughout their undergraduate studies.

Lindroth will graduate in June with a degree in Human Development and Psychological Services and a minor is sociology.

"I feel so unbelievably blessed to have received the B1G postgraduate scholarship," said Lindroth. "I am beginning my Master's Degree in Criminal Justice this Fall at Lewis University and I can't wait to chase my dreams and fight to make this world a better and safer place. I'm so grateful for the tools, resources, and individuals within Northwestern Athletics and NU for Life that have helped pave the way for my post graduate success"

The Plainfield, Illinois native was a two time Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Honoree and was named a 2018 Irving Kabiller Memorial Award Winner through the David G. Kabiller NU for Life Program that prepare student-athletes for their post-collegiate careers through the Wildcat network. In her sophomore season, Lindroth was also selected to represent the Big Ten as a part of the annual Big Ten Foreign tour.

Maxwell will also graduate in June with a dual degree in Economics and Mathematics.

"I am truly honored to receive the Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship," said Maxwell. "From Rocky Miller Park to University Hall, my time as a Northwestern student-athlete has made me passionate about growth and self-improvement. This scholarship will allow me to develop intellectually beyond my undergraduate coursework and I am tremendously grateful for that opportunity."

During his time as a Wildcat, he was named a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and was also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. In his senior season, Maxwell also earned CoSIDA All-District honors.

To be eligible for the postgraduate scholarship, student-athletes must maintain a 3.2 GPA, serve as an excellent role model, demonstrate leadership qualities, and intend to continue their academic work in a graduate degree program.

The scholarship will be used to pay expenses of the student's postgraduate education to include such related activities as research and teaching, as well as other expenses such as tuition, fees, room and board, required course-related supplies and books.
