EVANSTON, Ill. – Following Saturday's Midwest Regionals, Northwestern women's fencing qualified three individuals to the 2020 NCAA Championships.
Sophomore epee fencer Julia Falinska, junior foil fencer Sarah Filby and first-year foil fencer Anna Biasco will be representing Northwestern at the big stage.
"I'm very excited for our team members who qualified," said head coach Zach Moss. "It is very a difficult thing to do and it's quite an honor to be amongst the top-24 fencers in the country. Sarah, Anna and Julia are all very strong fencers, who can achieve great results and represent our team well at NCAAs."
Veteran Sarah Filby earned an automatic qualification for the event, first year Biasco and Falinska, who finished last year's championships ranked eighth, won at-large bids and clinched themselves a spot at the championship.
Qualified fencers will be competing in the 2020 NCAA Championships on March 19-20 at the TCF Center in Detroit, Michigan.
