Join the Northwestern Chapter of Uplifting Athletes in the Touchdown Pledge Drive

The Wildcats community is invited to support the Northwestern Chapter of Uplifting Athletes by making a contribution to the 2020 Touchdown Pledge Drive. In this initiative, fans are encouraged to make a pledge for each touchdown scored during the Wildcats game against Illinois on Saturday, December 12. All proceeds directly benefit Uplifting Athletes, and support its mission to expand awareness, raise funds for research and uplift experiences for the rare disease community.
The Northwestern Chapter is led by senior defensive lineman Joe Spivak and junior long snapper Peter Snodgrass. Both Spivak and Snodgrass were introduced to Uplifting Athletes during their first year on campus, and quickly realized the role that sports can play in building hope and inspiration among members of the rare disease community.
When reflecting on his experience with Uplifting Athletes, Snodgrass recalls, "I have learned so many skills, such as leadership and communication, but the relationships I have formed with members of the rare disease community has been the most meaningful part of my experience." He goes on to say, "watching their fight against rare disease, and the tremendous amount of hope and resilience they have empowers me to work harder in my own life."
Similar to Snodgrass, Spivak has also learned a lot from working with this special organization. "It's the small things like letting people know you care about them, are praying for them and calling to check-in that all MAKE A DIFFERENCE. You never know exactly what battles people are fighting and just being there makes a bigger difference than most know!"
