EVANSTON, Ill.
The No. 15 Northwestern Wildcats close our their nonconference slate against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. on Big Ten Network+ and WNUR Sports.

The Wildcats are ranked No. 15 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll. They climbed one spot in each of the last two weeks from their preseason ranking of 17. They are the second-highest ranked team in the Big Ten behind 5-1 Maryland at No. 14.

The 'Cats are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten after dispatching Purdue, 70-54, on the road Thursday. Junior guard Veronica Burton exploded for 27 points against the Boilermakers, a career-high, and five steals. She has scored over 20 points in all three games so far and was named to the Weekly Big Ten Honor Roll on Monday.

Burton leads the Big Ten in steals per game (4.7), free-throw percentage (100%, 15-15), and three-point field goal percentage (58.3%).

Despite a poor perimeter shooting night, the 'Cats cruised against the Boilermakers thanks to their 15 steals and 27 turnovers forced. Lindsey Pulliam and Sydney Wood both scored in double digits while Courtney Shaw collected a career-high nine rebounds.

The 'Cats continue to excel in ball-control metrics, ranking in the top ten nationally in assists per game (20.3), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.69), turnover margin (+12.0) and steals per game (13.7).

Tuesday is the first meeting between the two programs. The Wildcats defeated OVC foe Eastern Illinois in their opener, 93-57, while the Colonels fell to the 'Cats' conference-mate Indiana, 100-51, in Bloomington. The Colonels are coming off three straight wins, most recently a 62-45 victory over Chattanooga.
