Wolf's Career Night Powers 'Cats Past Purdue

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wildcats earned their fourth Big Ten win Sunday evening defeating the Purdue Boilermakers by a score of 61-56 at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Northwestern improved to 14-2 overall and 4-1 in conference. The 'Cats are now tied for first place in the Big Ten with three other schools.
Senior center Abbie Wolf scored a career-high 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe to lead the way on offense. The senior finished the game with a double-double, grabbing 11 boards, 7 offensive and 4 defensive, while also blocking a career-high five shots.
The Northwestern defense was nothing short of stellar, holding Purdue to 36.1% shooting (22-of-61) and forcing 18 turnovers. In addition to Wolf's five blocks, sophomore Veronica Burton snatched four steals
Abi Scheid and Wolf led the Wildcats in the first half, combining for 20 of Northwestern's 31points. Wolf finished the half a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor scoring 11 points and grabbing 6 boards. Scheid added 9 points on impressive 4-for-6 shooting and 2 assists.
The 'Cats also showed well on defense holding the Boilermakers to 24 points in the half and without a field goal in the last 7:37 of the first half. They also forced 10 turnovers in the half facilitated by two steals from Jordan Hamilton.
In the second half, Abbie Wolf again reached double figures, scoring 13. Lindsey Pulliam was the Wildcats' second leading scorer in the half finishing with eight. The 'Cats were active on the offensive glass finishing with 12 offensive boards.
The Wildcats finished the day with a +10 turnover margin.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will travel to Bloomington, Ind. to play the now-No. 12 Indiana Hoosiers Thursday at 6 p.m.
