EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 15 Northwestern gave No. 3 Duke all it could handle on Friday afternoon, battling for over 75 minutes but coming up just short, 2-1, in double overtime.

The Wildcats wasted no time getting started in their home opener at Lakeside Field as first-year Peyton Halsey scored her first-career goal just 37 seconds into the match. Redshirt first-year Bente Baekers provided the assist for her team-leading seventh point on the season.

Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back in action at Lakeside Field on Sunday afternoon to face off against No. 13 Boston College at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Match Notes

Junior goalkeeper Florien Marcussen had six saves on the afternoon. She has recorded five or more saves in three of four matches this season.
Halsey is the fifth-different Wildcat to score a goal through just four matches.
Today's matched marked the third top-25 team Northwestern has faced already this season and the second team ranked in the top five of the NFHCA Coaches Poll (also No. 4 UConn).
The Wildcats have now gone to double overtime or further in two of their four matches this season, the other coming in their season opening win at No. 21 Stanford.
