Wildcats Knock Off Tribe 2-1 at Martin Stadium

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern scored two top-notch goals to earn the win against William & Mary, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Martin Stadium.
The first goal came just two minutes after halftime from junior Mikayla Hampton when she thumped in cross from sophomore Julietta Thron with her head past the Tribe goalkeeper. First year center back Danika Austin was credited with an assist for her excellent distribution to Thron on the break.
The Wildcats picked up their second just minutes later, as first year Aurea Martin found herself on the left wing crowded by a handful of defenders. She glided towards the center of the pitch and uncorked a 25-yard curling effort that rifled into the net off the crossbar to make it 2-0.
Northwestern picked up their first win of the season to move to 1-2-1. The 'Cats head back on the road for two games this week against Cincinnati on Thursday and Harvard on Sunday.
