Team USA Wins U19 World Cup Gold

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario – Led by Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, Team USA won gold in the 2019 U19 World Cup Lacrosse Tournament.
Team USA went a perfect 7-0 in the tournament, defeating Canada 13-3 in a rematch of the 2015 U19 World Championship game.
In the gold medal contest, sophomore Izzy Scane was awarded game MVP after scoring three of the first five goals for the US. Sophomore Elle Hansen found the back of the net twice and goalie Madison Doucette finished with a .75 save percentage, giving up just one goal in the second half.
Incoming first-year Eve Hritzuk represented Team Canada with 13 goals and six assists during the tournament. Hritzuk was also named to the All-Tournament team.
Hansen finished the tournament with five goals, two assists and two caused turnovers. In goal, Doucette finished the tournament with a .80 save percentage and a caused turnover.
In the draw circle, sophomore Greta Stahl finished 29/39 in draws and also notched four goals and four assists. Scane finished the tournament with 21 goals, eight assists, two draw controls and a caused turnover. The Michigan native was also two-time game MVP, earning honors against England in pool play and in the championship against Canada and a spot on the All-Tournament team.
