Dear Northwestern,

My mind was made up about becoming a student-athlete at Northwestern University long before my commitment during my sophomore year in high school. Long before I even started high school I had followed Wildcats and knew that Northwestern was something special.

When the day finally arrived for me to officially commit to the school, the decision was an easy one: Ahead of me was a path that surely would provide many exceptional opportunities -- to be challenged academically at one of the nation's finest schools and to be tested to the limits of my athletic ability with the Northwestern Wildcats Women's Lacrosse Team. When the time came, there was no hesitation. Northwestern was where I belonged.

In my time here my hopes and expectations were realized many times over. From the beginning Coach Kelly and her staff made me feel like an important member of the Northwestern family. Thank you for believing in me, Coach. You showed me how to believe in myself, even when my confidence was rocked by injury, a Wildcat loss, or some of the other difficult circumstances here and at home. I am most grateful for your guidance, support, and encouragement through those challenges and for the efforts your coaching staff made to help me become not only the athlete I am today but the person I am.

Jim Phillips, thank you for welcoming me into your home along with the other members of our Wildcat team. Your backyard dinner every year is the highlight of my fall! You have taught me to never forget where I came from and have shown me how to find fulfillment at Northwestern not only as an athlete but as a student and member of our amazing community. I will always remember the thoughtfulness you showed walking me off the field after an emotional game against B.C when my knee gave out. If I become an Athletic Director, I will know how to be one of the best.

Thank you to my team. There is no Northwestern without you. Like any family, I am certain that the bonds that have held us together through pits and peaks in these four years will sustain and provide for us for many years ahead. When my father was facing kidney failure and expecting to receive a transplant from my mother, I was touched so deeply by the support you showed me and my family by adding green tape to your sticks in recognition of our fight against kidney disease. We will never forget what good friends we have among the Wildcat team.

Thank you, Northwestern, for providing me with the endless resources and tools I will need to find success in the future. Thank you for exceeding my expectations as a Division 1 student athlete. Northwestern is my home and I am forever grateful.

Sincerely,
Claire Quinn
