EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Women's Fencing assistant coach, Eric Momberg was named the Midwest Fencing Conference Varsity Coach of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The award was voted on by all 23 varsity and club teams in the MFC.
"Eric has been incredible since day one," said head coach Zach Moss. "His passion, dedication and hard work are unparalleled. He is one of the biggest reasons for our program's success. There is no one more deserving of this award."
Momberg joined the Wildcats ahead of the 2016-17 season after Zach Moss took over head coaching duties. Under Moss' leadership, the duo owns a combined record of 119-28 (.810) and have led Northwestern to back-to-back Midwest Conference Championship titles, including this year's sweep in all weapons for the first time in program history.
Chicago's Big Ten Team finished their 2018-19 campaign with 39-5 record, three All-Americans and a sixth place finish at NCAA Championships, marking the program's highest finish in the last 10 years.
