EVANSTON, Ill. — No. 31 Northwestern dominated Chicago State on Wednesday night as the Wildcats did not drop a single set en route to a 4-0 win at Combe Tennis Center.
All three NU doubles pairings won their matches, starting with a 6-1 performance by Julie Byrne and Hannah McColgan. Rheeya Doshi and Inci Ogut clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory, seconds before Caroline Pozo and Clarissa Hand wrapped up their 6-3 win.
Byrne extended the lead with a 6-0 win at No. 2 singles with her opponent retiring after one set. Doshi and No. 40 Hand both grabbed straight-set victories as well, at the No. 3 and No. 1 slots, respectively.
Although the 'Cats were in control of all the other singles matches, play was stopped because they had clinched the victory.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back in action with a pair of home matches this weekend. NU will battle No. 18 Ohio State at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday.
