'Cats Fall at Wisconsin, 4-3

MADISON, Wis. — No. 29 Northwestern dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 47 Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon in Madison.

The Wildcats move to 11-9 on the season and 5-4 in Big Ten play, while Wisconsin is 15-4 overall and 7-2 in league action.

Wisconsin grabbed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.

The Badgers built their lead to 2-0 with a win at No. 3, before the 'Cats got on the board with a 6-2, 6-4, win at No. 2 from Julie Byrne. Wisconsin earned a three-set victory at No. 4 to take a 3-1 lead.

Inci Ogut claimed a three-set victory at No. 6 in the form of a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win, while Wisconsin clinched the match with a win at No. 5.

Clarissa Hand defeated No. 63 Sara Castellano, 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 to make it a 4-3 contest.

Northwestern returns home next Saturday, April 20, to host Ohio State at 11 a.m. CT.
