UPDATE: Due to inclement weather on Sunday, NU and GT will play a doubleheader on Saturday.

144 AND COUNTING: Northwestern is in the midst of its 144th season of intercollegiate competition ... NU is set to play its third series of the season, a three-game set at Georgia Tech.

IRON SHARPENS IRON: Through the first two weeks of the season, Northwestern has the sixth-strongest strength of schedule in the nation ... NU has picked up two quadrant one wins (over Duke and BYU). 

YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN: Four Wildcats are making a homecoming with this trip to Atlanta ... Cousins Jack Dunn (Alpharetta, Ga.), David Dunn (Alpharetta, Ga.), and Michael Trautwein (Johns Creek, Ga.) will be coming home, plus Josh Levy (Atlanta, Ga.). 

DOING SOME RECON: Georgia Tech is 5-3 this season and just swept a two-game set over Georgia State on Tuesday and Wednesday ... The Yellow Jackets took one out of three over No. 4 UCLA last weekend ... GT's pitching has been a strong spot as the team has combined for a 3.63 ERA (27 ER/67.0 IP).

HOT START: Redshirt first-year David Dunn is leading the Big Ten in batting average (.479), on-base percentage (.538), and runs scored (7; tied) ... He hit a blistering .583 in NU's three-game series over Duke.

THIS AND THAT: Northwestern's team batting average of .264 is the fourth-best mark in the Big Ten after the first two weekends ... The 'Cats drew 39 walks in the first two weeks, second-best in the Conference ... The pitching staff fanned 64 batters, tied for third in the Big Ten ... NU's 16 strikeouts by their pitchers on the Feb. 22 game at Duke is tied for the most by a Big Ten team this season. 

NOT DUNN YET: Senior infielder Jack Dunn has started every game since coming to Evanston, a 167-game streak ... Dunn is hitting .414 after the first two weekends of the season, the fourth-best mark in the Conference.

MR. 305: Junior infielder Alex Erro hit .296 last year and, in 196 at-bats, only struck out 21 times ... That is 10.7 percent of the time ... In his career, he's only struck out 44 times in 461 at-bats (9.5 percent) ... He is batting .313 this season, the third-best mark on the squad.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: Last year, six underclassmen position players made 15 or more starts, while 45-of-49 games started by pitchers were made by underclassmen ... Returning 92 percent of games started from last season is the best mark in the nation ... Overall, the Wildcats return 22 letterwinners. 

GOING STREAKING: Senior infielder Jack Dunn has reached base safely in 33-consecutive games, dating back to April 7, 2018 vs. Michigan ... Junior infielder Alex Erro is on a career-long 21-game hitting streak, dating to April 28, 2018 at Penn State ... His previous career-long hitting skein was a 16-game stretch between Feburary 24, 2017 and March 21, 2017.

ROAD WARRIORS: The 'Cats are on the road for the first 10 games of the season and for 16 of the first 17 games of the season.

HANK THE TANK: Hank Christie, NU's Friday starter, has been extremely effective, highlighted by a career-high 10 strikeouts over 6.0 innings pitched on Feb. 23 against Duke ... He's fanned 14 batters in 12.0 IP this season — a 10.44 K/9 rate.

WHAT A RELIEF: In two appearances totalling 3.0 innings pitched, first-year Parker Hanks has allowed no runs on one hit and no walks while fanning six.

NATIONAL RECOGNITION: D1Baseball.com picked three 'Cats in their 2019 Draft Big Ten top prospects list — infielders Jack Dunn (No. 25) & Alex Erro (No. 31) plus right-handed pitcher Nick Paciorek (No. 37) ... Outfielder David Dunn is No. 14 on the 2020 list.

HOMEGROWN: Of the Wildcats' 30-man roster, one third hail from Illinois ... The next-largest state contingent is Georgia, of which four Wildcats call home.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE EVERYTHING: D1Baseball.com listed a pair of Wildcats on their Big Ten "Impact Freshman" list — catcher/outfielder Michael Trautwein (No. 17) and infielder Shawn Goosenberg (No. 31).
