Wildcats Dominate Hoosiers, 69-49, on Senior Night

EVANSTON, Ill. — Celebrating the senior night of Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah, Northwestern turned in one of its most dominant performances of the season in a 69-49 win over the Indiana Hoosiers on Tuesday night.
 
The senior captain finished with a game-high 11 rebounds along with 11 points en route to her 16th double-double of the season. She also added a season-high six steals and three assists on the night.
 
The Wildcats led by two points at halftime but then proceeded to outscore the Hoosiers, 39-21 in the second half, shooting a blistering 50.0 percent from the field (14-of-28) and held Indiana to just 9-of-34 shooting.
 
Lindsey Pulliam led the way for the #B1GCats with 24 points, scoring 17 in the first half. Tuesday night's performance marks her 27th consecutive double-digit point game, good for the fifth longest streak in Northwestern history. The Wildcats improved to 9-1 this season when Pulliam scores at least 20 points.
 
Northwestern opened the game on an 8-0 run and did not trail once throughout the night. Pulliam and Kunaiyi-Akpanah accounted for 24 of the team's 30 points in the first half, however the entire team stepped up in a game changing third quarter as the 'Cats opened the second half on an 11-0 run and held Indiana scoreless for the first 5:24 of the third quarter.
 
Veronica Burton finished with eight points, including a buzzer beater to cap off the third quarter, marking her third buzzer-beater in conference play. The first year also dished out four assists and grabbed four rebounds. In her third career start, Sydney Wood scored six points and added four rebounds along with three assists and a career high four blocks.   
 
Both Bryana Hopkins and Abbie Wolf provided bench scoring for the 'Cats, as Hopkins contributed seven points, while Wolf pulled down double-digit rebounds for the third time this season, finishing with 11 rebounds and six points.
 
Northwestern is now 16-12 overall with a 9-8 mark in Big Ten play. Chicago's Big Ten Team will close out the regular season, Sunday, Mar. 3 as it travels to No. 10 Iowa for its regular season finale. Tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m on Big Ten Network.
