BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –
The Northwestern women's swimming and diving team continued to break records in their second day of competition at the 2019 Big Ten Championship.

Sophomore Calypso Sheridan helped the Wildcats get out to a fast start in the 200 IM finals, finishing fifth behind Olympic champion Lily King in a time of 1:55.77. Sheridan closed in a split of 28.74 to bring home 25 points for the 'Cat and break her own school record.

On the boards, Senior Olivia Rosendahl finished third overall, scoring 356.15 points in the 1M, shattering her previous season best and setting a new school record. Also scoring for NU, senior Eryn Scannell finished 20th to add an additional five points to the 'Cats' haul from the event.

The relay team of Sheridan, sophomore Sophie Angus, first year Miriam Guevara and junior Malorie Han were back in action today to take on the 400 medley relay and in a similar fashion to their day one success, set a new school record in a time of 3:33.47. Sheridan led off the relay in a time of 52.44 to set a new school record in the 100 backstroke. Angus followed with a 59.56 split in the breaststroke and Guevara finished her butterfly in a time of 51.93. Han anchored the relay for the 'Cats, touching the wall with a 49.54 split.

Northwestern finished the day in seventh place with 205 points, sitting just 11 points back from sixth place Purdue. Friday's prelim session will begin at 10 am with the 100 fly prelims, followed by the 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and the 3M dive. The afternoon session will include finals for all six events and conclude with the 200 free relay.
