EVANSTON, Ill. – Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah made history Thursday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena, pulling down her 1,000th career rebound, becoming just one of two players in Wildcat history to accomplish the milestone.
Kunaiyi-Akpanah finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season. The senior captain's career rebound total now stands at 1,009. Nia Coffey, who played from 2012-2016, is the only other player in the club, with 1,183 boards.
Lindsey Pulliam reached double digits for the 26th straight game, with 14 points. Abi Scheid and Veronica Burton each chipped in eight points. Burton added a career high nine assists while junior Abbie Wolf added seven points and five rebounds off the bench.
Northwestern trailed by as many as 20 points in the third quarter and made a furious 13-0 run in the fourth, cutting the lead to as low as three points at 63-60. The 'Cats could not capitalize as Nebraska went 1-9 from the field down the stretch and fell 71-64.
Northwestern moved to 15-12 and 8-8 in conference with two games left to play in the regular season.
The #B1GCats are back in action for their home finale on Tuesday, Feb. 26, against Indiana with a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Wildcats will be honoring Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah for Senior Night.
