Wildcats Wrap Up Regular Season at Junior Olympics

DENVER, Colo. – Seven members of the No. 2 Northwestern women's fencing team competed in one final regular season test at the Junior Olympics this past weekend.
Alyssa Chen paced the group of NU first-years with a 22nd-overall finish in Junior Women's Foil. The San Diego native went 5-1 in pool play and received a first-round bye in the direct elimination tableau. Chen went on to pick up two DE victories before falling to eventual tournament runner-up Asherah Horsley.
In Junior Women's Saber, Robyn Song's 5-1 pool play record earned her a first-round bye in the direct elimination tableau as well. Song went on to go 1-1 in DE's and finish 43rd overall.
In Junior Women's Epée, Maggie Snider went 4-2 in pool play and 2-1 in DE's to finish 52nd overall. Emma Scala was close behind, finishing 55th overall following a 3-2 pool play record and 2-1 DE record. Natalie Kim went 3-3 in pools and 1-1 in DE's, finishing tied for 107th overall.
Elina Moon and Jerrica Liao also competed in Junior Women's Foil, finishing 132nd and 149th respectively.
With the regular season officially in the books, the Wildcats remain focused on preparing for the postseason, which begins this Saturday and Sunday (2/23-24) at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
