EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will close out the Big Ten dual season when it hosts No. 24 Illinois on Friday night. The action is set to start at 7 p.m. CT at the new Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The contest will also feature the celebration of Alumni Night for Northwestern wrestling, including on-mat recognition before the match of former Wildcat wrestlers in attendance.

Chicago's Big Ten Team is coming off a loss to No. 4 Michigan in a match where Conan Jennings and Ryan Deakin each picked up top-six wins in their respective bouts.

Jennings took down No. 6 Mason Parris for the second time this season with a 7-5 decision, and moved up to No. 12 in the nation with the victory. The senior is ranked as high as No. 6 in the heavyweight division by TrackWrestling.

Deakin faced off against No. 5 Alec Pantaleo, coming away with an 11-9 decision in an exciting match. The redshirt sophomore, ranked third in the nation, has now racked up six wins against opponents ranked in the top ten.

Shayne Oster also was victorious for the 'Cats, cruising to an 8-3 decision over Malik Amine at 149. Oster is now slotted at No. 23 in the nation according to TrackWrestling after the win over the Wolverine.

The Illini enter the weekend on the back of a one-point loss to No. 16 Wisconsin. The two squads each won five bouts and finished tied in team points, but the Badgers earned the victory thanks to tiebreaking criteria.

Two of the past three meetings between the programs have been decided by a single point, including an 18-17 victory for then-No. 14 Illinois a year ago. NU won five bouts in that match, included wins over ranked grapplers from Rivera and Colin Valdiviez.
