Lu, Su Lead ’Cats on Day Two at Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO MAR, P.R. — A pair of rookies are tied for 26th and the No. 15 Northwestern women's golf program moved three spots up the team leader board after a strong second round at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Monday morning.
First year Jane Lu shot a collegiate best 2-under, 72, and is tied with classmate Kelly Su in 26th at 5-over to lead the Wildcats through 36 holes. Su shot an even-par 72 Monday morning to post her lowest round of the season.
Lu opened her second round with a par on No. 13 and after a a bogey on the par-4 16th made three birdies over her next nine holes. She made four birdies, including back-to-back birdies on the par-4 fifth and sixth holes, to shoot a 3-under, 33, on the front nine. The 2-under, 70, marked Lu's first collegiate round of par or better.
Su posted the lowest round of her young collegiate career by carding 10 pars, four birdies and four bogeys on day two. Her previous low round of 74 was at the Stanford Intercollegiate in the fall.
After shooting 14-over par in round one, the Wildcats posted the fourth-lowest team score of round two with a 4-over, 292. The 'Cats are eighth in the 14-team field at 18-over through 36 holes. The 11th-ranked Kent State program was the only team to shoot par Monday morning and leads the field at 4-over.
Junior Brooke Riley and first year Kelly Sim are tied for 34th at 6-over.
The Wildcats will conclude their first tournament of the spring on Tuesday. A shotgun start is scheduled for 6 a.m. CT.
