EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern men's basketball (5-5) will take on cross-town foe DePaul (11-1) for a Saturday night showdown in Wintrust Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The matchup will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network and can be heard on ESPN 1000 AM radio.
The Wildcats are seeking redemption after falling short in a wire-to-wire battle with #15 Michigan State, 77-72, led by an outstanding 26 point performance from first-year Boo Buie.
Northwestern and DePaul are meeting for the 35th time on Saturday. The Blue Demons hold a 20-14 advantage in the series, but Northwestern has won four straight – its longest winning streak in the series.
STORYLINES
Boo the Beast: Boo Buie's 26 points against MSU were the most by a Wildcat in a game this season and the most by an NU player since Vic Law had 26 vs. American on 11/12/18. The performance was also the most by an NU player vs. a Big Ten opponent since Scottie Lindsey had 32 vs. Iowa on 2/25/18.
Young Talent: Northwestern's top five scorers are in their first or second season of college basketball.
Nance Nuggets: Sophomore Pete Nance has been terrific in Big Ten Play, (vs. Purdue/MSU), averaging a team-best 14.0 points on 12-of-24 shooting to go with 6.5 rebounds per game against league opponents. and ranks fourth in the B1G with 6.67 defensive rebounds per game and 12th in rebounds per game (7.4).
