EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern rode a dominant first-half shooting performance and a lockdown defensive effort to a 74-47 win over UT-Arlington on Monday afternoon in front of an electric Welsh-Ryan crowd on Northwestern's annual Field Trip Day.

The Wildcats improve to 8-1 on the season, their best start since the 2016-17 campaign.

The Wildcats opened the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back, leading 27-9 after the first quarter and 45-26 at the half. The 'Cats shot a blistering 62.0-percent (18-of-29) in the first half while holding the Lady Mavericks to 9-of-27 shooting.

Lindsay Pulliam led the way with a game-high 17 points and helped the 'Cats jump out front early as she scored 15 in the first half on 6-of-9 shooting.

Also scoring in double figures was Abi Scheid, who scored 15 points while pulling down five rebounds. Scheid also knocked down three three-pointers on the game, marking the fourth time this season she has hit at least three triples.

Veronica Burton stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, eight assists, two steals and a season-high seven rebounds on the game. Also excelling in the backcourt was Jordan Hamilton, who scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Hamilton also shot a perfect 3-for-3 from deep, marking her most three-pointers made in a game since she knocked down four at Minnesota on February 10 last season.

Entering the game with the top scoring defense in the Big Ten, the Wildcats held their opponent to under 50 points for the sixth time in nine games this season. NU also registered 25 points off turnovers compared to just six from the Lady Mavericks and also excelled in transition, outscoring UT-Arlington 23-5 in fast break points.

Chicago's Big Ten Team now heads down to West Palm Beach, Florida to take part in the West Palm Invitational. The Wildcats will match up with East Carolina on Friday afternoon with a 1:30 p.m. CT tip, followed by a showdown vs. Xavier on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
