Wildcats Sweep Scarlet Knights, 3-0

EVANSTON, IL – Northwestern's attacks could not be stopped on Friday night, defeating Rutgers, 3-0, at Welsh-Ryan Arena to celebrate the homecoming of the Northwestern volleyball alumni.
Graduate student Payton Chang was a key facilitator in the game, collecting her 700th assist of the season. Chang also led the Wildcats with 36 assists, marking her 13th match this season with 30+ assists.
Junior Nia Robinson continued her dominant hitting tallying 15 kills on the match. She moves her career total to 1,056 kills which puts her at 21st on Northwestern's career kills list.
Alana Walker led all players with five blocks, with Sophomore Ella Grbac and Robinson close behind with three blocks each.
The 'Cats finished the first set strong ending with a 5-1 run to win the set before taking the set, 25-14.
The second set was closely contested, with neither team gaining more than a 3 point advantage. Despite this, Northwestern pulled ahead, winning the set 25-22.
In the third set, Northwestern came out strong, starting with as a tightly contested battle, until Northwestern rattled off a 10-2 run, eventually closing out the set with a 25-10 victory.
The 'Cats will be back on the court Sunday afternoon as they continue Alumni Weekend against Penn State at 1 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
