EVANSTON, Ill. – Redshirt first-year Bente Baekers was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season, the conference announced on Monday.

Baekers takes home the award after scoring twice in the Wildcats' 4-1 victory at No. 19 Rutgers on Sunday, her sixth multi-goal output of the season. She scored the first goal of the game off a penalty corner in the first quarter and then provided the final blow in the final two minutes of the game via a successful penalty stroke attempt.

The Dutch native from Rijswijk, the Netherlands has now scored 19 goals and recorded 39 points on the season, which both rank the most in the Big Ten and the third most in the country.

This marks the ninth Big Ten weekly award handed out to the Wildcats this season, including winning Freshman of the Week in six of the seven weeks the award has been given out.

The Wildcats will be back in action this Sunday, October 20, when they play host to Kent State for a matchup beginning at 11 a.m. CT.
