EVANSTON, Ill - Sophomore Mackenzie Wood and first-year Danika Austin and were awarded Big Ten honors for their recent play, the conference announced Tuesday.

Wood was named Goalkeeper of the Week while Austin earned Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week.

Wood was instrumental in both Wildcat victories in the last week, recording a shutout of Nebraska while facing 12 shots and making eight saves in a 2-1 win over Iowa.

Wood passed the 100-save mark in her career this week, and currently sits at 111. She also now has 10 shutouts in her young career. The goalkeeper has started every game for the 'Cats since she stepped on campus.

Austin also played a crucial role in both wins, assisting on the lone goal in the victory against Nebraska and scoring the golden-goal to defeat Iowa in the 97th minute.

Austin leads the Wildcats in points after notching her first collegiate goal on Sunday. She also extended her team-lead in assists with her third helper against Nebraska.

The pair of victories for the 'Cats helped them improve to 2-1 in conference play. Northwestern will look to build on that mark on Thursday at 7 p.m. when they play host to Purdue.
