IOWA CITY, Iowa — Despite a statement game by senior forward Vic Law, Northwestern fell to No. 20 Iowa, 80-79, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday night.

Law tied his career high in the victory with five three-pointers. He finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season. The scoring tally was Law's career best against the Hawkeyes; he came into the game posting a maximum of 13 against Iowa.

In the contest, he moved into 16th place in Northwestern's all-time scoring list, surpassing Joe Ruklick's 1,315 career point total.

As a team, Northwestern shot 51.8 percent from the field (29-of-56), their best shooting performance of the season.

Graduate guard Ryan Taylor also posted a double-digit point scoring performance, concluding with 16 points — his 70th career double-digit game. Redshirt junior forward A.J. Turner also had a productive evening, posting 15 points on six-of-eight shooting.

The Wildcats came out of the gates strong with a flurry of three-pointers from Law, who finished the first half five-of-six from beyond the arc. The Chicago native was seven-of-10 from the field in the first stanza overall and posted a game-best 19 points.

As a team, Northwestern shot a blistering 50 percent, including a 47 percent clip from three-point range (seven-of-15). NU finished the period with 41 points, its most since in an opening half since posting 44 against Chicago State on December 17, 2018.

Chicago's Big Ten Team also commanded the glass in the first period, out-rebounding the Hawkeyes, 21-10. NU had six offensive rebounds while IU had only one.
