Northwestern Outlasts Buffalo in Four Sets

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Northwestern (6-1, 0-0 Big Ten) kick-started its third nonconference tournament of the season with a 3-1 victory over Buffalo on Friday night.
The Wildcats will battle Butler (10 a.m.) and Arkansas (7 p.m.) tomorrow to wrap up the three-match trip.

- Northwestern has won six of its seven matches to start the season.
- NU extended its winning streak to three-straight, tying its season-longest skein.
- Chicago's Big Ten Team accumulated nine team blocks.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
- Northwestern had three players log double-digit kills, led by Abryanna Cannon's 18-kill effort … Nia Robinson was right on her heels, logging a season-high tying 17 kills … Hanna Lesiak rounded out the group with her 10-kill night … Lesiak led the team with her career-high .400 clip.
- Sarah Johnson paced the 'Cats with 17 digs … Britt Bommer owned the team-high in helpers, notching a career-high 26 assists.
- Johnson served a career-high tying four aces.
MATCH NOTES:
- S1 | Despite a furious start to the set by Northwestern, Buffalo clawed back into the match and downed the Wildcats, 25-22.
- S2 | Northwestern hit at a blistering .520 clip and dispatched the Bulls, 25-21.
- S3 | Nia Robinson registered a set-high five kills and Northwestern clawed back to top Buffalo, 25-23.
- S4 | Hanna Lesiak was highly efficient in the match-ender, logging five kills on seven swings with one error (.571) and Northwestern bested Buffalo, 25-21.
