Northwestern Announces 2018 Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will look to build on its third straight NCAA tournament appearance with a competitive 2018 schedule that was released Tuesday.
The defending Big Ten runner-ups in both the regular season and conference tournament welcome six conference opponents and two non-conference foes to Martin Stadium this fall. The home opener brings Loyola Marymount to Evanston on Sept. 6 as part of a quick two-match homestand also featuring Bowling Green Sept. 9.
Chicago's Big Ten Team welcomes 2017 Big Ten tournament champion Penn State to Martin Stadium for the conference home opener Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. The Wildcats also host Ohio State (Sept. 23) and Michigan (Sept. 28) as part of a three-match homestand, the first of two in the conference slate.
Indiana (Oct. 11), Purdue (Oct. 14), and Illinois (Oct. 18) also make up a three-match homestand for Northwestern.
The Wildcats play conference matches at Wisconsin (Sept. 14), at Minnesota (Sept. 16), at Rutgers (Oct. 4), at Maryland (Oct. 7), and at Iowa (Oct. 21).
Northwestern opens the 2018 season with an exhibition contest against Loyola at Martin Stadium Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. before playing the rest of the month of August on the road.
The regular season begins with neutral site games against Miami (OH) Aug. 17 and Wake Forest Aug. 19 in Bloomington, Ind. The 'Cats then go to West Lafayette, Ind. for contests against Iowa State (Aug. 24) and West Virginia (Aug. 26). The five-match road trip concludes with a game at Missouri Aug. 30.
The Big Ten Tournament runs Oct. 28 to Nov. 4, and the NCAA Tournament begins Nov. 9 and concludes with the national championship game Dec. 2.
