EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern Fifth-year senior Sheila Nesselbush, senior Shelby Fredericks and junior Selena Lasota are among 25 women's nominees for the 2018 Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday afternoon.

The Wildcats' three nominees are tied with Boston College and Maryland for the most in the country.

"This is a remarkable accomplishment for these student-athletes," said Jeffrey Harvey, Chairman of The Tewaaraton Foundation, in a press release. "The Foundation and its board congratulates these talented players and their respective teams for being recognized by the Selection Committees as Tewaaraton Nominees."

Nesselbush has had a career year for the 'Cats in the midfield, posting career highs in goals (41), assists (10) and points (51) through 16 games. The Penfield, New York, native ranks seventh in the country in shooting percentage, scoring her 41 goals on just 68 shots. She has 10 multi-goal games and is currently on an 11-game point streak in which she has tallied 43 points.

Lasota returned to her dominant offensive form after missing all but four games last season, leading the Wildcats with 45 goals, 60 points and eight free-position goals. The Campbell River, British Columbia, native has been even more dominant as of late, recording 29 points over her last five games.

Fredericks is among the nation's leaders in assists and draw controls despite missing the first four games of the season. The senior co-captain ranks second in the country with 8.58 draw controls per game and is fourth in the country with 2.75 assists per contests. Her 33 assists lead the Big Ten and rank 20th nationally despite the missed time.

The Wildcats will challenge No. 3 Maryland for the Big Ten regular season title this evening on the Big Ten Network at 6 p.m. CT.

The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
