Northwestern and No. 10 Indiana Battle in Friday Doubleheader

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Northwestern dropped both games of a doubleheader to No. 10 Indiana Friday in Bloomington.
Northwestern falls to 9-19 overall and 1-10 in Big Ten play, while Hoosiers improve to 25-6 on the campaign and 5-2 in league action.
The series finale is set for 1:05 p.m. CT
GAME TWO RECAP: INDIANA 6, NORTHWESTERN
Indiana rallied for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the nightcap of the doubleheader, 6-3.
Jack Dunn went 3-for-5 in the contest with a pair of singles and a double. It was his second three-hit game of the season. The junior shortstop plated all three of Northwestern's runs. Jack Claeys posted a 1-for-3 effort at the dish with a pair of RBI, including a RBI-double. Alex Erro drove in Northwestern's only other run.
Richard Fordon was credited with the loss in a relief effort. Cal Kruegar won his seventh game of the season, throwing 2.0 innings of relief.
Hank Christie started for Northwestern and worked 6.0 innings, while fanning six batters. After allowing a lead-off home run in the first, Christie threw five-scoreless innings and retired the final seven batters he faced in order.
Northwestern jumped on the Hoosiers in the top of the first as Dunn collected a lead-off single and took advantage of an overthrow on a pick-off attempt to get to third base. Jack Claeys brought Dunn home with a sacrifice fly two batters later to put NU up, 1-0.
Indiana answered in the bottom of the first as Logan Kaletha hit a lead-off home run over the left field fence to tie the ballgame.
Dunn picked up his second hit of the game in the top of the third with a double down the left field line. Erro put the Wildcats back in front with a single up the middle that scored Dunn from second to make it 2-1.
Indiana loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the third, but Christie worked his way out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts.
The Hoosiers loaded the bases again in the bottom of the fourth, but the Oak Park, Illinois, native dug deep and drew a pop up in foul territory to again get out of the jam.
Northwestern extended its lead to 3-1 in the top of the eighth when Jack Claeys blasted a RBI-double off the left field wall to score Dunn from second.
Indiana took over the game in the bottom of the frame by scoring five runs, all with two outs, to go ahead, 6-3.
Northwestern loaded the bases in the top of ninth, but could not bring across any runs.
GAME ONE RECAP: INDIANA 12, NORTHWESTERN 0
Northwestern dropped the series opener to Indiana, 12-0, in game one of a doubleheader on Friday at Bart Kaufman Field.
Quinn Lavelle was credited with the loss after allowing six runs in 3.1 innings. Jonathan Stiever picked up the win for the Hoosiers, throwing 7.0-scoreless innings and striking out five.
The Hoosiers outhit Northwestern, 17-8.
Senior Willie Bourbon and sophomore Charlie Maxwell led the 'Cats at the dish, each tallying a pair of singles. Leo Kaplan tallied his fourth double of the year.
Tyler Lass, Anthony Alepra and Nick Cauley each saw relief action. Alepra struck out three batters in 1.2 innings.
