Julie Krupnick Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. — One of the hottest goalkeepers in college women's lacrosse was honored Tuesday afternoon for her spectacular play versus USC last week.
Northwestern redshirt first-year goalkeeper Julie Krupnick was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career after leading the Wildcats to a 9-5 win over No. 7/6 USC on Sunday. Krupnick made six saves and picked up a pair of ground balls while holding her fifth-straight opponent to less than 10 goals.
Krupnick has started each of the first five games for the 'Cats in her debut season and is currently ranked second in the country with a goals-against average of 6.50 and 25th with a .490 save percentage.
The Wildcats rank second in the country in scoring defense (6.20) and seventh in scoring margin (8.00).
Northwestern is in the midst of a six-game homestand at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium that continues Saturday, March 3 when it plays host to No. 1 Stony Brook. The contest is scheduled for 12 p.m. Tickets are available on NUSports.com and by calling 888-GO-PURPLE.
