Crosstown Showdown: Wildcats Travel to No. 20 DePaul Wednesday Night

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's basketball will travel to No. 20 DePaul in crosstown rivalry matchup this Wednesday in McGrath-Phillips Arena. Tip off is set for 7:00pm.
The crosstown rivalry is being played for the 25th consecutive year. The defending Big East champions hold a 19-15 lead all-time lead in the series and have won the last three meetings. Northwestern has defeated the Blue Demons three times under head coach Joe McKeown.
The Wildcats (5-1) are coming off a hard fought battle against Pitt in ACC/B1G Challenge last Thursday in Evanston. The 'Cats put up quite the fight, forcing 18 opponent turnovers, grabbing 40 rebounds, and securing double-digit efforts from two individual Wildcats but ultimately dropped to the ACC foe, 52-49.
Senior Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah recorded her fifth double-double in six games, with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kunaiyi-Akpanah also achieved a personal best from the free throw line, going 10-11.
Sophomore Lindsey Pulliam added her fifth consecutive double-digit scoring effort, adding 10 points for the Wildcats.
Freshman Sydney Wood finished with three assists for the 'Cats, a career best. She also contributed six points to the offense, going 3-4 from the line. Jess Sancataldo contributed two three-pointers in the 4th to tighten up the match.

Scouting the Opponent:
- DePaul holds a 4-3 record and are 3-2 at home this season with wins over Green Bay, Princeton and Savannah State.
- The Blue Demons three losses come from all ranked teams including UConn, Notre Dame and Syracuse.
- Junior forward Chante Stonewall and senior guard Ashton Millender lead the team in scoring, both averaging 14.4 ppg.
- DePaul is the reigning Big East conference champion.
