Wildcats head to Tiger Fall Classic

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face Louisiana State University in the Tiger Fall Classic this weekend from Nov. 9 to 11.
The 'Cats have had almost three weeks to prepare for this weekend's matches after competing in the ITA Midwest Regionals in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Oct. 18 to 22.
In the first round of the singles main draw at the ITA Midwest Regionals, Inci Ogut, Rheeya Doshi and Clarissa Hand each defeated their opponents to move into the second round. Both Julie Byrne and Hand won their matches in the second round and the round of 16 to head into the quarterfinals. Hand advanced into the semifinals with a three-set victory, while Byrne fell to Michigan's Chiara Lommer in the quarterfinals.
After dropping the first set to Michigan's Lommer in the semifinals, Hand came back to win the second set, 7-5. However, Lommer edged Hand in the final set, 6-3.
In the doubles main draw, four pairs of Wildcats advanced out of the second round. The teams of Byrne and Doshi, along with Or and Ogut, both progressed into the semifinals. Byrne and Doshi fell to Ohio State 8-5 and Or and Ogut fell to Michigan, ending the 'Cats regional run.
This weekend will be the first time the 'Cats have participated in the Tiger Fall Classic and the third year LSU has hosted this tournament at the LSU Tennis Complex.
