The junior is preparing to race in her third-straight NCAA Championships
It marks the first time since 1978 that Wisconsin will host the national cross country meet.
This will be Roberts' third-straight appearance at the championship meet as she also qualified as a first-year and sophomore. Thirty-one teams were selected to participate in the race and Roberts is one of thirty-eight individuals who was chosen based on their top-25 finish in their respective regional meet.
"The race plan is to stick to what has been working for her races this season - to be patient, position within the top-35 to 55 and work hard over the last kilometer," said head coach 'AHavahla Haynes. "Aubrey has good race instincts and if she trusts those she should be knocking on the door of an All-American honor."
"The NCAA Championships are more about managing pre race nerves and being stress free about the race pace once the gun goes off," Haynes continued. "The weather forecasts looks to be unforgiving and that is good for us!"
This will also be Roberts' third time running on the Thomas Zimmer Championship course in the 2018 season alone. She raced the 6K at the Badger Classic, finishing in 21:14.1 and at the NCAA Pre-Nationals, where she crossed the line in 20:10.0. Earlier this season, Roberts also ran the fastest 6K time of her collegiate career at 19:58.4 at the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln, Neb.
As a freshman, Roberts finished the race in Terra Haute, Ind. in 20:31.3, earning 50th in the nation. During her sophomore campaign, Roberts posted a 20:25.07 time and finished in 63rd place in a field of 255 runners. The championships will stream live on FloTrack.
