EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will travel to State College, Pennsylvania for its first road meet of the season on Saturday, November 3rd.

The Penn State Open is a collegiate invitational meet, and marks the second of NU's two individual events to start the season. Each event will feature multiple rounds of pools with six or seven fencers per group in a round robin, followed by the direct elimination round featuring longer bouts up to 15 touches.

"This weekend presents a great test for our team before we start our collegiate dual meet season," said head coach Zach Moss. "It's our first opportunity this season to challenge ourselves against this level of competition and we're excited to see how the team performs."

Several Wildcats are looking to build off strong showings at the Remenyik Open. Junior Pauline Hamilton placed first in the women's epée event, while sophomore Alexis Browne placed first in women's saber. Seven other 'Cats took home top-three finishes, including those by first-years Julia Falinska, Ananya Gupta, Maggie Snider, Robyn Song, and Abigail Swallow.

This weekend's event marks the third of the season for senior Yvonne Chart. The Truro, United Kingdom native competed in the Barcelona Satellite World Cup event on Oct. 27, going 3-3 in pool play before placing 38th overall.
