Wildcats Head to Stanford Intercollegiate for Final Fall Tune Up

EVANSTON, Ill. — The 16th-ranked Northwestern women's golf program will head west for its final tune up of the fall as it competes in the Stanford Intercollegiate over the weekend.
 
The 54-hole event, hosted at the Stanford Golf Course, will consist of three rounds of stroke play. Teams will be grouped in threesomes and will be paired again after the first and second rounds based on scores.
 
Chicago's Big Ten Team will get underway Friday morning at 7:30 PT, playing alongside Washington and Iowa State.
 
The 17-team field includes eight teams ranked in the top 25 in the country, including No. 1 UCLA, No. 3 USC, No. 10 Arizona State, No. 12 Washington, the No. 16 Wildcats, No. 21 Florida State, No. 22 Stanford and No. 25 Pepperdine. UCLA is a two-time defending champion of the event.
 
The Wildcats will lineup will include senior Stephanie Lau, senior Janet Mao, senior Monica Matsubara, junior Brooke Riley and first year Kelly Sim. First year Kelly Su will compete as an individual. NU is coming off a fourth-place finished at the 11th annual Windy City Classic earlier this month in which Riley and Sim led the way in a share of seventh at 1-under on the week.
 
Lau has a team-best 71.55 scoring average through three events this fall, posting six rounds of par or better and a pair of rounds in the 60s. She and first year Kelly Sim have each posted a pair of top 10 finishes.
