NORMAN, Okla. – Nick Brookes continued his impressive start to the campaign on Saturday as Northwestern faced Oklahoma in the ITA Kickoff. The first year won at No. 3 singles in straight sets to move to 3-0 on the season as the 'Cats fell to the 18th-ranked Sooners.

Chris Ephron and Michael Lorenzini briefly put the Wildcats on top early with a win at No. 3 doubles. The pair took down Alex Bakshi and James Davis, 6-3, in the first set to finish.

At No. 2 doubles, a duo of Northwestern first-years played the No. 43 team in the nation. Brookes and Antonioni Fasano performed well, but dropped a tight, 5-7 contest to bring the doubles point down to the No. 1 match.

NU's Dominik Stary and Ben Vandixhorn went toe-to-toe with Ferran Calvo and Jake van Emburgh, as the set stood at 6-6 and went to a tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was equally close, with the Sooner pair prevailing, 7-5, to give the hosts a 1-0 lead in the match.

Wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles further increased the margin for Oklahoma before Brookes was able to pull one back for the 'Cats. He topped Adrian Oetzbach in straight sets, winning 6-3, 7-5 to continue his perfect start to the year in singles competition.

A victory at No. 4 clinched the match for the Sooners, with a final score of 4-1. Stary's match against No. 17 Calvo went unfinished, as did No. 5 singles, where Jason Seidman led in the third set.

Chicago's Big Ten Team will face Georgia Tech next after the Yellow Jackets fell to No. 14 Illinois Saturday morning. A 4-0 defeat dropped the ACC squad to 3-2 on the season.

The consolation match will be Northwestern's second and final contest of the event. Opening serve is set for 10 a.m. CT on Sunday morning.
