Match Notes (PDF)

EVANSTON, Ill. – The second match of Northwestern's three-match homestand will take place on Thursday night as the #B1GCats host the Missouri Tigers at Martin Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Wildcats (2-2-1) are looking to bounce back from a 2-1 setback to Cincinnati at home last Sunday. Thursday's match will be the penultimate non-conference matchup for Northwestern as Big Ten play kicks off on September 14 when the Wildcats travel to University Park, Pennsylvania, to take on No. 4 Penn State.

Missouri (2-3-1) is coming off a 2-1 double-overtime loss to TCU last Sunday. This will be the second leg of a two-match road trip for the Tigers.

SERIES HISTORY
Thursday marks the 10th meeting between Northwestern and Missouri, with the Tigers holding a 4-2-3 advantage all-time. The teams have played to a draw each of the last three times, dating back to 2010. The last two meetings, in 2014 and 2015, have been scoreless draws. Northwestern won the first two contests, in 1996 and 1997, before Missouri rattled off four straight from 2003 to 2009. The Tigers lead 2-1-1 in matches played in Evanston.

SET PIECE SPECIALIST
Junior defender Kayla Sharples scored her second goal of the season on Sunday against Cincinnati on a set piece from the left of the box. The goal was Sharples' fifth of her career, all as a defender. Each of her goals have come since the start of 2016, and she has been the Wildcats' third top goal scorer in that time span.

ASSISTING OTHERS
Marisa Viggiano recorded her first assist of the season and the eighth assist of her career on Sunday against Cincinnati. She has the most career assists out of any active Wildcat with eight. Viggiano has 12 career points, including a goal this season at Loyola Marymount off a penalty kick, the third-highest total on the current roster behind Brenna Lovera and Kayla Sharples.

SAVED BY CLEM
Senior All-American goalkeeper Lauren Clem made five saves against Cincinnati on Sunday to bring her season total to 16. Clem ranks fifth in the Big Ten with 3.2 saves per game in 2017. Clem has made 268 saves in her career, the third-highest total in program history behind only Wendy Scholz (1994-97) with 577 and Wendy Ekeberg (2007-10) with 281. With 14 more saves, Clem will move into second all-time at Northwestern.
