EVANSTON, Ill. — Senior Danita Stroup and sophomore Megan Kinna will represent the Northwestern lacrosse program as members of the Canada National Senior Team at the 2017 FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup in Guildford, England, July 12-20.
The duo, in addition to junior Selena Lasota, who was named to the roster for the World Cup but will not participate, was a part of Canada's U19 roster that won the country's first gold medal in women's competition at the 2015 U19 World Championships.
The seeding structure for the FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup has been calculated through use of placing positions from the 2013 World Cup in Canada.
Nations who are playing in the World Cup for the first time have been placed based on previous results, geographic diversity and their 2016 European Championship placing position. The pools will play a round robin between July 12-18.
The top placing teams from Pools B, C, D and E will play off to decide which 2 nations qualify to play in the Championship Division. As of July 19, nations will proceed to play in the Championship Division (Teams 1-8), the Platinum Division (Teams 9-16) and the Diamond Division (Teams 17-25).
Canada will compete in Pool A with the United States, Australia, England, Wales and Scotland.
